Perkins Inboard Engines provide practical marine diesel propulsion for sailing yachts, motorboats, fishing boats, workboats, canal boats and inland-waterway craft. The Perkins M92B marine diesel engine produces 85.8 hp (86 hp rounded) from a 4.4-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine. It uses direct injection, runs at 2,400 rpm and weighs about 423 kg wet. The engine is designed for high torque and economical operation in pleasure and light-commercial applications. Confirm build specification and condition when replacing older Perkins 4.236, 6.354 or M-series engines.

M92B standard equipment includes freshwater heat-exchanger cooling, gear-driven raw-water and freshwater pumps, high-mounted fuel filtration and a high-inclination sump. Options include 12/24V electrics, instrumentation, flexible mounts, exhaust outlets and fuel pre-filtration; match each item to vessel systems. The high-inclination sump also supports practical installation and servicing.

Gearbox options include ZF45A, PRM500D, PRM260D and Borg Warner 10-18. Before a shaft-drive repower, verify reduction ratio, flywheel housing, coupling, shaft alignment, propeller, mounts, exhaust, cooling connections and engine-room clearance. Check whether retained controls, mounts and couplings meet the selected engine’s specifications.
