Thornycroft Marine Generators
Thornycroft marine generators are UK-assembled diesel generator sets developed for yachts, motor cruisers, trawlers, narrowboats, commercial workboats and inland-waterway vessels. The MSS Motorsports range covers approximately 9.5 kVA to 40 kVA, offering practical onboard power for battery charging, refrigeration, lighting, pumps, galley appliances, navigation systems and accommodation services.
The Thornycroft TRGS-10 9.5 kVA Marine Generator is a 1,500 RPM, 50 Hz single-phase marine generator suited to smaller recreational and commercial vessels. At the upper end of the range, the Thornycroft TRGT-40 39 kVA Marine Generator provides three-phase output for vessels carrying larger motors, pumps, refrigeration systems and operational loads.
These 1500 RPM marine generators are developed for saltwater use and supplied with indirect heat-exchanger cooling and wet exhaust systems as standard. Dry-manifold exhaust arrangements can be specified for specialised installations. Depending on the model, packages can include naturally aspirated or turbocharged diesel engines, Mecc Alte alternators, remote control panels, extension harnesses, emergency-stop controls and automatic shutdown protection.
Correct marine generator sizing requires the vessel’s continuous consumption and highest starting loads to be calculated before selecting a model. Buyers must distinguish between kVA and usable kW, confirm the expected power factor and determine whether single-phase or three-phase output is required. Frequency, voltage, rated speed, engine-room dimensions, cooling-water connections, exhaust routing, ventilation and future electrical demand should also be reviewed before ordering a replacement marine genset.
MSS Motorsports supplies Thornycroft marine generators for sale for new vessel construction, refits and generator replacements. Each quotation identifies the model, continuous and prime rating, electrical phase, voltage, frequency, cooling arrangement, control panel, included components and optional additions. Availability, warranty conditions, packing, freight, payment requirements and delivery terms are confirmed in writing before an order is completed.
