Canaline marine engines are designed primarily for narrowboats, wide-beam boats, canal cruisers and other inland-waterway vessels. Their compact four-cylinder diesel configurations, smooth low-speed operation and practical service access make them suitable for both new boat construction and canal boat engine repowering.
The range begins with models such as the Canaline 38 and Canaline 42, which suit many conventional narrowboat installations. Vessels requiring additional propulsion capacity can be matched with the Canaline 52 or Canaline 60, while the turbocharged Canaline 70T and Canaline 82T are intended for larger wide-beam craft and more demanding inland applications.
Depending on the model and production generation, Canaline diesel engines are developed from proven Kioti or Isuzu engine platforms and marinised for inland use. Keel cooling, twin alternator arrangements and compatibility with onboard calorifier systems are available across applicable configurations, supporting propulsion, domestic battery charging and hot-water production.
Many Canaline engine and gearbox packages are supplied with a matched PRM marine transmission. The Canaline 52 and Canaline 60, for example, are commonly paired with a PRM150 hydraulic gearbox, while the larger Canaline 82T is offered with a PRM280. The correct gearbox ratio must still be selected according to propeller size, vessel displacement, stern-gear arrangement and intended cruising speed.
