Warranty Policy

Effective Date: July 26, 2026

MSS Motorsports UG supplies marine diesel engines, marine generators, gearboxes, propulsion systems, controls, replacement parts, and accessories from multiple manufacturers.

Warranty coverage varies by manufacturer, product condition, model, application, operating hours, and destination. This policy explains how warranty coverage and claims are handled.

1. Applicable Warranty

Products sold by MSS Motorsports UG may be covered by:

  • The original manufacturer’s warranty.
  • A supplier or distributor warranty.
  • A reconditioner or remanufacturer warranty.
  • A limited warranty issued specifically by MSS Motorsports UG.
  • No additional written warranty, where clearly disclosed before purchase.

The warranty applicable to a product will be stated on the:

  • Product page.
  • Quotation.
  • Proforma invoice.
  • Sales invoice.
  • Order confirmation.
  • Warranty certificate or manufacturer documentation.

If general website information differs from the written warranty supplied for a specific product, the product-specific written warranty will control.

MSS Motorsports UG does not provide one universal warranty period for every product.

2. New Products

New engines, generators, gearboxes, drives, parts, and accessories may qualify for the applicable manufacturer’s warranty.

Coverage may depend on:

  • Product model and serial number.
  • Purchase and installation dates.
  • Recreational or commercial use.
  • Duty rating.
  • Operating hours.
  • Geographic location.
  • Warranty registration.
  • Installation and commissioning.
  • Compliance with the maintenance schedule.

Customers may request available warranty information before placing an order by contacting:

sales@mssmotorsportsug.com

3. Reconditioned and Remanufactured Products

Reconditioned or remanufactured products may carry a separate limited warranty provided by MSS Motorsports UG, the supplier, or the reconditioning facility.

The applicable warranty period and covered components will be stated in writing before purchase.

Coverage may be limited to specified major components and may exclude:

  • External accessories.
  • Electrical components.
  • Sensors.
  • Injectors.
  • Turbochargers.
  • Pumps.
  • Belts.
  • Hoses.
  • Filters.
  • Normal service items.

Only the warranty terms stated on the applicable quotation, invoice, or warranty document apply.

4. Used Products

Used products may have limited warranty coverage or may be sold without an additional written warranty.

The product’s:

  • Condition.
  • Known operating hours.
  • Included components.
  • Inspection status.
  • Warranty, if any.

will be stated on the product page, quotation, invoice, or order confirmation.

Products sold “as is” remain subject to any rights that cannot legally be excluded.

5. Replacement Parts and Accessories

Replacement parts may be covered against qualifying defects in materials or workmanship for the period stated by the applicable manufacturer or supplier.

A parts warranty does not normally cover damage caused by:

  • Incorrect part selection.
  • Improper installation.
  • Incorrect adjustment.
  • Installation on an incompatible product.
  • Failure of another component.
  • Contaminated fuel, oil, coolant, or electrical systems.
  • Incorrect voltage.
  • Normal wear.

Labor, removal, installation, freight, and related expenses are covered only when expressly included in the applicable written warranty.

6. Installation and Commissioning

Marine engines, generators, gearboxes, drives, controls, and related systems must be installed and commissioned correctly.

Installation should be performed by a qualified marine technician familiar with the product and application.

The installer must follow applicable:

  • Manufacturer installation manuals.
  • Electrical specifications.
  • Fuel-system requirements.
  • Cooling-system requirements.
  • Exhaust-system requirements.
  • Alignment procedures.
  • Control-system instructions.
  • Generator voltage, frequency, and phase requirements.
  • Commissioning procedures.
  • Marine safety standards.

Customers are not required by this policy to use one specific repair company merely to preserve warranty coverage.

However, a claim may be denied when the reported failure was caused by improper installation, commissioning, adjustment, modification, or work that did not follow applicable manufacturer requirements.

7. Warranty Registration

Certain manufacturers require warranty registration after installation or commissioning.

Where required, the customer must provide accurate information, including:

  • Product model.
  • Product serial number.
  • Purchase date.
  • Installation date.
  • Vessel or application information.
  • Recreational or commercial use.
  • Installer details.
  • Current operating hours.

MSS Motorsports UG may assist with registration where this service is available.

The customer remains responsible for confirming that registration has been completed within the applicable deadline.

8. Maintenance Responsibilities

Customers must operate and maintain products according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

Maintenance records should include:

  • Service dates.
  • Operating hours.
  • Oil and filter changes.
  • Fuel-system maintenance.
  • Cooling-system maintenance.
  • Belt and impeller replacement.
  • Anode inspection and replacement.
  • Generator servicing.
  • Approved fluid specifications.
  • Parts installed.
  • Technician or service-provider details.

Failure to maintain a product does not automatically remove every warranty right. However, damage caused by neglected, delayed, or incorrect maintenance may not be covered.

9. What Warranty Coverage May Include

Subject to the applicable written warranty, an approved claim may result in:

  • Technical diagnosis.
  • Repair of a covered defect.
  • Replacement of a defective component.
  • Supply of approved replacement parts.
  • Approved labor.
  • Product replacement where repair is not appropriate.
  • Another remedy permitted by the applicable warranty.

The manufacturer, supplier, reconditioner, or applicable warranty provider will normally determine the appropriate remedy.

A warranty claim does not automatically entitle the customer to:

  • An immediate refund.
  • A complete replacement engine or generator.
  • A replacement before inspection.
  • Payment for unapproved repairs.
  • Reimbursement of unrelated vessel or business expenses.

10. Conditions Generally Not Covered

Subject to the applicable written warranty, coverage may be excluded when damage or failure results from:

  • Incorrect installation or commissioning.
  • Incorrect alignment.
  • Incorrect gearbox ratio or propeller selection.
  • Operation outside the approved duty rating.
  • Overloading.
  • Incorrect generator voltage, phase, or frequency.
  • Contaminated or unsuitable fuel.
  • Incorrect oil, coolant, or other fluids.
  • Fuel starvation.
  • Restricted cooling-water flow.
  • Improper exhaust-system design.
  • Water ingestion.
  • Overheating.
  • Corrosion or electrolysis.
  • Freezing.
  • Accident, collision, grounding, fire, or flooding.
  • Improper transportation or storage.
  • Neglected maintenance.
  • Unauthorized modification.
  • Incorrect wiring or voltage.
  • Failure of an external vessel system.
  • Continued operation after an alarm, warning, leak, or known fault.
  • Normal wear and scheduled service items.

Coverage decisions are based on the cause of the failure, not only on whether the failure occurred during the warranty period.

11. Consumables and Normal Wear

Unless a defect is confirmed, warranties generally do not cover normal maintenance or wear items such as:

  • Filters.
  • Belts.
  • Impellers.
  • Anodes.
  • Gaskets and seals.
  • Hoses.
  • Lubricants and coolant.
  • Spark plugs.
  • Batteries.
  • Brushes.
  • Fuses.
  • Routine service parts.

The applicable manufacturer or supplier warranty will determine whether a specific item qualifies for coverage.

12. How to Submit a Warranty Claim

Warranty claims must be submitted to:

support@mssmotorsportsug.com

Please provide:

  • Customer or company name.
  • Order, quotation, or invoice number.
  • Proof of purchase.
  • Product model.
  • Product serial number.
  • Vessel or application details.
  • Recreational or commercial use.
  • Installation and commissioning dates.
  • Current operating hours.
  • Installer information.
  • Maintenance records.
  • Detailed description of the problem.
  • Fault codes or alarm information.
  • Clear photographs or videos.
  • Diagnostic report, if available.

Additional information may be requested before the claim can be evaluated or submitted to the applicable warranty provider.

13. Diagnosis and Authorization

Customers must not dismantle, modify, repair, replace, or return a product before receiving instructions, except where immediate action is reasonably necessary to protect personal safety or prevent further damage.

A warranty investigation may require:

  • Remote technical assessment.
  • Inspection by a qualified technician.
  • Electronic diagnostic testing.
  • Fuel, oil, or coolant analysis.
  • Photographs or videos.
  • Return of a suspected component.
  • Inspection by the manufacturer, supplier, or reconditioner.

Any diagnostic work, repairs, parts replacement, or transportation for which reimbursement is requested must be approved in advance.

MSS Motorsports UG cannot guarantee reimbursement for unauthorized:

  • Labor.
  • Replacement parts.
  • Diagnostic work.
  • Travel.
  • Freight.
  • Removal or installation.
  • Third-party repairs.

14. MSS Motorsports UG’s Role

MSS Motorsports UG will reasonably assist customers by:

  • Reviewing the initial claim.
  • Confirming purchase and product records.
  • Identifying the applicable warranty.
  • Requesting required technical information.
  • Communicating with the manufacturer, supplier, distributor, or reconditioner.
  • Providing available claim updates.
  • Coordinating approved parts or return instructions.

Final warranty approval may be made by the applicable manufacturer, supplier, distributor, reconditioner, or other warranty provider.

MSS Motorsports UG cannot approve a manufacturer warranty claim contrary to the manufacturer’s written terms.

15. Warranty Claims Versus Returns

The Returns and Refunds Policy applies primarily to eligible unused and uninstalled products.

Products that have been installed, commissioned, operated, or placed into service will normally be handled through the warranty process.

A product fault does not automatically qualify the complete product for an ordinary return or immediate refund.

Do not return an engine, generator, gearbox, drive, part, or electronic component without written authorization.

Unauthorized returns may be refused or returned to the sender at the sender’s expense.

16. Shipping, Labor, and Additional Costs

Responsibility for diagnosis, shipping, labor, removal, and installation depends on the applicable written warranty and claim approval.

Unless expressly covered and authorized, warranties may not include:

  • Product removal.
  • Product reinstallation.
  • Vessel haul-out or launching.
  • Crane or lifting services.
  • Towing.
  • Dockage.
  • Technician travel.
  • Accommodation.
  • Expedited freight.
  • Customs duties and taxes.
  • Brokerage or port charges.
  • Storage or demurrage.
  • Vessel downtime.
  • Lost charter or business income.
  • Substitute products or vessels.

Customers should obtain written approval before incurring significant warranty-related expenses.

17. International Warranty Claims

International customers must contact MSS Motorsports UG before arranging inspection, repairs, or return transportation.

Warranty support may depend on:

  • Product location.
  • Manufacturer warranty territory.
  • Local service availability.
  • Product version.
  • Regional compliance.
  • Diagnostic facilities.
  • Manufacturer or supplier authorization.

Unless expressly covered by the applicable warranty, international customers may be responsible for:

  • Local transportation.
  • Customs clearance.
  • Export and import documentation.
  • Duties and taxes.
  • Brokerage.
  • Port or airport charges.
  • Technician travel.

Do not export or return a warranty product without receiving written shipping and customs instructions.

18. Service and Repair Workmanship

Where MSS Motorsports UG directly performs or expressly manages repair or service work, any workmanship warranty will be stated on the applicable service quotation or invoice.

A workmanship warranty applies only to the specific work performed and does not cover:

  • Unrelated component failures.
  • Pre-existing conditions.
  • Customer-supplied parts.
  • Damage caused by another technician.
  • Incorrect operation.
  • External vessel-system problems.
  • Normal wear.
  • Failures caused by neglected maintenance.

19. Claim Decisions

If a claim is denied, the customer may request an explanation of the decision.

Customers may submit additional relevant evidence, such as:

  • Further diagnostic findings.
  • Installation reports.
  • Maintenance records.
  • Fluid-analysis results.
  • Photographs.
  • Technician reports.
  • Manufacturer service findings.

Submitting additional information does not guarantee that the original decision will be changed.

20. Legal Rights

This Warranty Policy explains the general warranty-support process used by MSS Motorsports UG.

It does not replace or modify the written warranty issued by a manufacturer, supplier, distributor, or reconditioner.

If this policy conflicts with an applicable product-specific written warranty, that written warranty will control for the applicable coverage.

Nothing in this policy excludes or limits a legal warranty or consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded.
