JCB Mermaid engines are British-built marine diesel packages developed around the 4.4-litre JCB Dieselmax platform. Their low rated speed, strong torque and commercial-duty construction make them suitable for fishing boats, workboats, inland-waterway craft, displacement vessels and demanding repower projects.
A single four-cylinder platform supports several power levels. The naturally aspirated Mermaid J-444NA55 produces 74 hp, while the Mermaid J-444NA63 delivers 85 hp. These mechanically controlled JCB marine diesel engines suit operators seeking straightforward propulsion with fewer electronic components.
Additional output is available from the turbocharged Mermaid J-444TC74, rated at 100 hp, and the turbo-intercooled Mermaid J-444TA93, rated at 125 hp. At the top of the range, the electronically governed Mermaid J-444TCAE120 produces 160 hp from the same 4.4-litre JCB Dieselmax architecture.
Cooling, electrical and drivetrain arrangements can be specified according to the vessel. Available configurations may include heat-exchanger or keel cooling, 12- or 24-volt electrics, engine-driven seawater pumps, hydraulic power take-offs and matched PRM marine gearboxes. The gearbox ratio and propeller demand must be confirmed before ordering.
A quotation for a JCB Mermaid marine engine for sale should state the exact J-444 model, rated output, duty classification and cooling arrangement. It should also confirm the gearbox, engine mounts, instrument panel, wiring loom, exhaust elbow, optional PTO equipment, warranty terms, availability of JCB Mermaid engine parts, production lead time and delivery conditions.
