Tohatsu’s Propane outboard is equipped with a Safety Fuel Shut Off Valve which keeps propane fuel from continuously flowing when the engine is not in use. Plus, since the 5hp LPG does not require ethanol or gas, this propane outboard requires almost zero maintenance on fuel related components.

Tohatsu 5 hp Sail Pro Propane Motor Part Failure

We own 7 of the motors and they ran great for two years. Then the transmission gear shifter, made of composite material, started to become brittle from the sun and has failed on 3 boats. We are in the process of trying to get spare parts for the motor so it can be fixed quickly and not take our boats out of service.
